Prospects

  • Archeology
    • Realizing some identification prospects for some archeological interest points within a researched site or even the identification of new archeological interest points; the identification of some settlement characteristics that are difficult to reconstitute even through expensive exhausted excavations, as well as defense systems, settlements placing and distribution etc.; identifying some evolution phases through horizontal stratigraphic methods etc.;
    • Complex characterization of the main elements of a human settlement through non-destructive methods; characterizations of sites that are specific for classic archeology (urban), but also prehistoric sites (rural), monostratified or multistratified; anticipating in real time (in systematic researchs time) some characteristics in the study area for a detailed and correct interpretation/appreciation of the existing archeological situation;
    • It can be realized the discharging of the historical charge profitableness and its planning through physic and financial estimations of real time efforts and minimal costs.
  • Other domains
    • The characterization of ecological sites and the identification of illegal waste deposits;
    • Localizing pipes, tanks and cables for urban organization and for the efficiency of construction sites;
    • Detecting undetonated projectiles and war mines;
    • Mineral and petroliferous explorations and ground water layer studies, in collaboration with other institutions.

Dating

  • Archeology
    • The realization of the archeomagnetic calibration curve throughout Romanian territory as a centralized reference system for reporting subsequent measurements; increasing, in time, its accuracy through other measurements; introducing Romania in paleo- and archeomagnetic European system and programs of dating;
    • Absolute dating (with a demonstrated precision of 25 years); relational dating for some archeological characteristics and artifacts situated in different stations (in the area sized with calibration curve);
    • Paleo-environment characterizations through magnetism studies of the environments characteristics found in sedimentary deposits.
  • Other domains
    • The extension of the calibration curve at geological temporal scale and supporting it by calibration with other dating methods that are specific to geology;
    • Geologic dating for some samples taken from rocks and sediments with magnetic remanence in order to differentiate the levels of geological stratigraphy;
    • Studies of the present magnetic field characteristics and monitoring the intensity and direction changes for terrestrial geomagnetic field for areas having 500 km in diameter.

Conservation-Restoration

  • Pottery
    • The restoration and conservation of pottery vases belonging to different historical ages (cleanings, re-completions, impregnations, reconstitutions, and in-situ takings of some elements within archeological complexes);
    • Restoration of archeological and of art materials, or utilitarian of ceramic, faience, porcelain, glass, plaster;
    • The effectuation of scientific copies and imitations over some archeological pieces of great interest or of art;
    • Reproducing over originals or matrixes;
    • Realizing in controlled conditions the experimental archeology tests for different ceramic materials (modeling, decoration and burning).
  • Metals Galvanotechnics
    • Archeology
    • Electrilytic cleanings for metallic objects (gold, silver, cooper, bronze, iron, cooper alloys);
    • The completion, assembling and restoration of the initial shape of metallic objects in order to complete the typological series and/or to display them in museums and exhibits;
    • The realization of scientific copies over archeology and art pieces through galvanoplastics;
    • Restoration and conservation (stabilization of the degradation processes, anticorrosive protections) of metallic archeological objects come from museums and/or archeological excavations with the help of mechanical cleaning and complex chemical treatments using different chemical reagents;
    • Analyses for establishing the optimum microclimate parameters.
    • Other domains
    • Decorative coverings of metal objects through galvanic deposits;
    • Anticorrosive protection for different metallic objects;
    • Marked copies for valuable ceramic and metallic;
    • Matrixes for processing plastic materials.

Paleobotany

  • Within Paleobotany and Dendro-chronology can be executed soil samplings from different archeological contexts, followed by their processing through flotation installation in order to recover and analyze the potential vegetal macro-remains belonging to different historical ages;
  • There can be realized qualitative identifications (family, genus, species), as well as quantitative rapports between identified categories;
  • At the same time, there can be realized determinations (identifications) for leaves and bushes from different materials discovered in archeological excavations;
  • Realizing some short and/or long chronological series on the basis of identification (counting) the determined chronological sequences starting from certain samples from trunks of tree (or other wood artifacts) found in archeological sites. The corroboration of these obtained data with the dendro-chronological calibration curves that exist in areas neighboring Romania can provide the support in order to realize some chronological sequences, respectively calibration curves for Romanian territory.
